Our Solution to A Growing Segment
On August 26, 2009 The New York Times reported a story about the largest manufacturer of baseball caps in the U.S.A., New Era. The basic premise of the story is how the company was adapting to declining sales. Among the actions taken were laying off employees and re-focusing from more lavish designs to simpler, basic designs which were still selling strong. For nearly two decades, women have been outpacing men in sports apparel and equipment spending. Yet the baseball cap industry has largely ignored this growing segment, even in the face of declining sales. This is why the GG Cap is perfect for the market at this time. Women are buying more and more sporting apparel, yet when we interview retailers, we ask them, how many hats to you sell to women. The reply is always, "Not many." When then ask why and they say, "Well, because they have no place to put their hair."
